Tonight we attended a candlelighting ceremony in memory of family and friends who have died from cancer. It was part of the
Relay for Life event run by the
Cancer Council. Each of the bags with candle-shaped lights inside is in memory of someone lost to cancer, but the event - while tinged with loss - is also full of hope: the candles line an athletics track at the Australian Institute of Sport, and teams are running and walking around the track for 24 hours to raise money for cancer research.
