I was going to hang onto these photos until there was something more to show, but it's been delayed and raining (yay!), so I'll just tell you about the driveway ...

Our neighbour had a guy in to do some work in his yard, and had the space between our driveways (including the fence and some opportunistic trees that had suckered) cleared up as part of the process. We're in a battleaxe block - the long driveway is ours, and the yellow house & red/brown garage belongs to the neighbour in front of us. He's putting in a new fence as far as the garage, and we'll have the use of the whole space between our driveway and his garage, which will make backing out of our driveway a whole lot easier for visitors!

Unfortunately, there was one small hitch along the way. When pulling out one of the saplings, they broke our water main - you can see the broken pipe in the centre of the last photo (the main had been turned off and most of the water bucketed out by this stage to give the plumber access). Several hundred dollars later, we had water again (and fortunately we didn't have to pay for it).

The lesson for today is: be careful where you dig - water mains aren't very far below the surface!

The husband got talking to the plant operator, and it turns out he was in Darwin in the aftermath of Cyclone Tracy, shortly before the husband (then aged 9) was evacuated to Sydney and then Canberra with his family. And now we're going to get some work done in our yard, which will be the subject of another post when it all starts happening ...

And back to alcohol ... the cider is still good :) And the vodka is starting to take on some colour ...
